For You

I edit photographs late at night. I wear headphones and listen to podcasts of people telling stories. When the house is still at 2:00 a.m., I am usually clicking and saving and deleting images where eyes are closed.

Recently, my husband {and second shooter} was out of town. I was finishing up a folder when I saw these two lovely, quiet images that he took at Brian and Stephanie’s wedding reception of the bride’s sister and her husband, nephew and little one on the way. I was so proud of him for being the kind of person who notices these moments. And the images really moved me in a way that photography should. I felt so thankful for him, for art, for the way this couple looks at each other and, in the words of Paper Boat Photography’s first official bride Emily, “I may have cried a little.”

Anyone can fall in love. But there is something so magical to me about photographs of people who still find a moment look at each other like these two amidst the trenches of parenthood. I hope they don’t mind me saying so, but I think they are so beautiful. And so romantic.

I didn’t watermark these because I wanted to thank them for reminding me that romance is not just for the bride and groom. It’s for all of us.
