Drinking: a caramel macchiatto again. I know… I have a problem.
Listening to: Dreamsome- Shelby Lynn
I was stuck waiting in pharmacy purgatory the other day and flipped through the new issue of Vogue. Annie Leibovitz shot this beautiful series called A Brief Encounter featuring Natalia Vodianova and Sean “Diddy” Combs.
I opened the magazine to my favorite page and snapped this with my phone to share with you the inspiration in this shot.

And then I found the images at Vogue.com which do much better justice to Annie’s work.
She’s the best. I love the stylized shoot and the light and venue, but I think the rest of the images don’t compare to the kiss one because there’s no intimacy in them. No eye contact or even body language of one toward the other. To me, the images could have been so much more with just a hint of connection. I realize the series was only to be a brief encounter, but it’s still an encounter. As Kathleen Kelly says in You’ve Got Mail, “Whatever anything is, it ought to begin by being personal. I mean, what’s so wrong with being personal anyway.”
All critiques aside, it’s great work and loads of inspiration.
