You Just Have To Laugh

I had one of these weeks.

Deadlines. No running water before a big mediation on a day when I had put off laundry and dishes.  Sleep dep. Trying to replace a toilet before family arrives. Christmas presents ordered in November no longer available. And on. And on. And on.

Alright, enough whining. Thankfully, it is all slowly resolving.  Last night, I delivered the last of my photography clients’ Christmas orders, settled a case, finished up most of the holiday cards.  A second set of plumbers are to arrive soon and, if I can get through the 12 obligations I have today before 1:00, I’ll be good.   Deep breaths. I miss being able to be Type A.

To counter-balance the bad chi:

*Yesterday, I tried Cellar Door Chocolates from Louisville Chocolatier Erika Chavez-Graziano. Amazing.

*Purl -one of my favorite stops for eye candy- just announced they are selling this 2010 calendar:

December 11, 2009 - 9:48 am Grimsaburger - There is some bad mojo afoot. A handful of people on an already small staff were laid off at Spouse's work in the last week, with staff notified there will be one more (suspense is great for mystery novels, not so great for workplaces). Then I locked my keys in the car at a gas station on the way home from my last class of the semester, the day we had awful wind, blowing snow, and well below zero wind chills. Then yesterday morning I got an email from admin saying I'd been overpaid and could I please write a check back to the university for $1400 by Friday? And to cap it all off (oh, pleeease let it be capping it all off), the baby decided yesterday was as good a time as any to stage a 12-hour back-arching, refusing-to-eat-but-sucking-on-any-bare-skin-available all-day-whining-punctuated-by-occasional-screaming-at-the-top-of-lungs-screaming fit. There is no glass of wine big enough.

December 11, 2009 - 3:00 pm Ami - If it makes you feel any better, it appears to be going around. On top of our furnace issue, I've had a puppy with digestive issues (and thus a need to clean the carpets), a Christmas tree that toppled over, sleep dep thanks to a kitty who suddenly wants attention every morning around 4 a.m., a migraine on a day I had an article due, and a secretary who misplaced almost a year's worth of reports I did .... all in one week. SHEESH! At least it's Friday -- and it sounds like you might be getting a break soon. Treat yourself to a bubble bath! PS I adore Purl. Did you see the Christmas tree quilt? Heavenly!!

December 11, 2009 - 3:56 pm Ami - PS I forgot to tell you I went to Purl when I was in NY this spring ... It was tiny and lovely, and I just finished a scarf with the luscious silk/wool I bought there.

February 4, 2010 - 11:46 pm tea time no. 35: Purl Love » Teaworthy - [...] picked up their beautiful calendar that I blogged about before Christmas. You can too here. I have more photos, but will spread the love a bit over a few [...]
